A full kitchen usually runs longer than a bathroom, and almost all of the variability sits in one place: cabinetry.
Cabinets drive everything
Custom cabinetry can carry a lead time of several weeks or more, and nothing downstream can happen without it. Countertops cannot be templated until the boxes are set and level, and the backsplash cannot go up until the counters are in. We order cabinets as early as the design allows, because that single decision moves the finish date more than anything the crew does on site.
Refacing is a different timeline entirely
If your cabinet boxes are sound, refacing or painting them changes the job from months to weeks. We will tell you honestly which one your kitchen needs. Plenty of the kitchens in our portfolio that people assume were gutted were a reface, new counters and a new backsplash.
Walls and soffits add time
Taking out a soffit is straightforward. Taking out a wall means finding out what it is holding up, and if it is structural you are adding engineering, a beam and an inspection. Worth it in most East Valley floor plans, but it belongs in the schedule from day one, not discovered in week three.
Living without a kitchen
Set up a temporary kitchen somewhere else in the house before demo: fridge, microwave, kettle, a sink you can reach. We sequence to get you a working sink and appliances back as early as the build allows, and we will tell you at the estimate roughly how long the gap is so you can plan around it rather than be surprised by it.
